The secret album called 'Once Upon a Time in Shaolin' was sold by online auction house Paddle8 to a 'private American collector' for a price 'in the millions.'

AceShowbiz - Remember that secret Wu-Tang Clan album? Yes, that one which took the legendary hip-hop collective six years to finish and only has a single copy kept in a special silver-and-nickel box. Latest report about the project entitled "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" says that it's finally found a new owner after being put up for an online auction.

According to Forbes, the album was sold by online auction house Paddle8 to a "private American collector" for a price "in the millions." The news outlet stated that "the sale was agreed upon in May, but it took months to finalize contracts and legal protections for the unusual record."

Wu-Tang Clan first revealed the one-of-a-kind album two years ago. It has 31 tracks recorded by the 9 members of Wu-Tang Clan. There will also be songs featuring Cher and Carice Van Houten. Someone last year expressed desire to buy the record for $5 million.

Earlier this year, the rap group's RZA said that "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" wouldn't be made available for a commercial release for at least 88 years. "When you buy a painting or a sculpture, you're buying that piece rather than the right to replicate it," the rapper explained the restriction back then.

"Owning a Picasso doesn't mean you can sell prints or reproductions, but that you're the sole owner of a unique original. And that's what 'Once Upon a Time in Shaolin' is. It's a unique original rather than a master copy of an album," he added.
