Bono, The Edge, and their bandmates visit Bataclan Theatre and take part in a vigil one day after the devastating attacks.

AceShowbiz - U2 took part in a vigil on November 14 following devastating attacks in Paris. Bono, The Edge, and their bandmates laid flowers on the pavement at the makeshift memorial outside Bataclan Theatre, the terrorist's most deadly target.

The band was rehearsing at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris ahead of their now-canceled Saturday concert when they learned of the attacks. "Our security locked it down pretty quickly and we got our team and our crew out of there safely," Bono said in a 2FM radio interview.

Bataclan Theatre was crowded with music fans waiting for Eagles of Death Metal's performance when shootings and explosions occured. "Our first thoughts at this point are with the Eagles of Death Metal fans," the U2 frontman said.

"If you think about it, the majority of victims last night are music fans. This is the first direct hit on music that we've had in this so-called War on Terror or whatever it's called. It's very upsetting. These are our people. This could be me at a show. You at a show, in that venue. It's a very recognizable situation for you and for me and the coldblooded aspect of this slaughter is deeply disturbing and that's what I can't get out of my head."

"These people have robbed their own religion and run off with their own version that has nothing to do with Islam," Bono said of the extremists. "They don't like music, we know that. But I think music is very important and has a role to play in showing these people we wouldn't allow them to stop us living our lives how we want."

"We can't wait to get back to Paris because we're hearing from our fans there that these people will not set their lives, their agendas," he added. "U2 was the first big act to New York after 9/11 and the feeling was the same - this isn't going to changes us and nothing you do is going to turn us around in how we live our lives."
