A terminally ill 'Star Wars' fan named Daniel Fleetwood has gotten a chance to watch unedited version of 'The Force Awakens' ahead of its official release on December 18.

AceShowbiz - A terminally ill fan has been granted his dying wish to watch "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ahead of its official release on December 18. Daniel Fleetwood was able to watch an unfinished cut of the highly-anticipated movie on Thursday, November 5 after his wife Ashley launched #ForceforDaniel campaign on Twitter last month.

Ashley shared the good news on Facebook, writing, "To all our wonderful supporters, friends, family and awesome strangers: Daniels final dream was just granted!!! Today the wonderful Disney and Lucasfilms made his final dream come true, in the amazing typical Disney way, they really do make dreams come true!"

She thanked director J.J. Abrams for making his husband's wish come true. "Daniel just finished watching an unedited version of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'!!! We would like to thank the awesomely talented JJ Abrams for calling us yesterday to tell us Daniel was getting his wish granted!" she continued, "We also would like to thank Lynne, Ben and Anahuac for coming to our home and screening the movie for Daniel. Lastly I want to thank ALL the amazing people who helped make this happen, thank you beyond words!!! May the force be with you all smile emoticon #forcefordaniel !!!!"

Back in July, doctors had given Daniel just two months to live after he was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma.

Ashley's campaign had gained attention from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" cast members including Mark Hamill and John Boyega. Both of the actors retweeted pleas to Disney, LucasFilm and J.J. Abrams to make the private screening happen. On Thursday, Mark tweeted, "I just read this and am elated for Daniel & his family! Thanks to the powers-that-be for making his dream come true."

It's the second time J. J. Abrams has granted a terminally ill fan's wish to watch his movie before its official release. Back in 2013, the director facilitated an early screening of "Star Trek Into Darkness" for terminally ill cancer patient Daniel Craft just days before his death.
