'Guilt' is a thriller drama inspired by the Amanda Knox case while 'Beyond' is a sci-fi drama about a man waking up to supernatural abilities.

AceShowbiz - One of the first greenlit shows that would become part of ABC Family's reformed channel Freeform is "Guilt". Inspired by the Amanda Knox story, the hour-long scripted drama is about "a young American woman in London who becomes the prime suspect in the savage murder of her roommate."

Daisy Head stars as the main character named Grace. The series was created by "The Game Plan" scribes Kathryn Price and Nichole Millard. Together they will executive produce alongside Stephen McPherson. Gary Fleder directed the pilot, which was shot this summer in London and Budapest.

Freeform is also including "Beyond" as part of the network's original programming slate. Coming from Adam Nussdorf, the drama is "about a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy."

Tim Kring from NBC's "Heroes" is executive producing this second project along with Zak Kadison, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. "The Age of Adaline" helmer Lee Toland Krieger directed the pilot.

"These two shows are an exciting part of our evolution into Freeform," Karey Burke, the network's Executive Vice President of Programming and Development, said in a press release. " 'Guilt' is a sexy, sophisticated event series whose European location feels bigger than anything we have ever done. 'Beyond' introduces our audience to a new hero and takes them into a complex supernatural universe with great suspense and deep emotion."

ABC Family will officially rebrand itself to Freeform in January. The network is attempting to reach out to its target audience, aged between 14 to 34, with the new, sexier and edgier original shows.
