Kanye West caused quite a storm on the San Francisco, California set of "American Idol" when he showed up and auditioned for the show as a faux contestant. He showed up on the FOX show during its auditions for its 15th and final season on Saturday, October 10.
Bringing along his pregnant wife Kim Kardashian, Kanye surprised "Idol" judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban when he stepped into the room to try out for the reality singing competition. Decked out in a black T-shirt, black jeans, a brown jacket and gold chain, the 38-year-old rapper sang his 2005 hit "Gold Digger" a capella. The music mogul couldn't stop smiling as he punked the judges and walked away with the golden ticket to Hollywood.
Kim captured the moment when the judges realized who was going to perform for them. She later shared a photo of TV monitors showing Kanye's "audition" on her Instagram page and captioned it with "SURPRISE!" "Look who's going to Hollywood!" host Ryan Seacrest captioned a smiling photo of Kanye about to give a high-five to wife Kim following his successful audition.
Kanye, Kim and daughter North West, 2, traveled to San Francisco over the weekend to attend the Democratic National Committee fundraiser for President Barack Obama. The rapper served as the headlining performer at the Saturday event.
