The actress who recently became a U.S. citizen admits that GOP debate is more frightening than the violence depicted in her new film 'Sicario'.

AceShowbiz - Emily Blunt, who recently became a U.S. citizen, has found something in the country that scares her more than the violence depicted in her new film "Sicario". The 32-year-old actress told PEOPLE at a special screening of her new film in New York on September 14 that the Republican debate was more frightening than the movie.

"You know, what scared me was watching the Republican debate after becoming a citizen," she told the magazine. "That scared me more than this movie." When she was asked whether she regretted her decision to become a U.S. citizen, the actress laughed and said she would always consider herself "half American."

Previously, Emily told The Hollywood Reporter, "I became an American citizen recently, and that night, we watched the Republican debate and I thought, 'This was a terrible mistake. What have I done?' " Her statement was responded by "Fox & Friends" co-host Anna Kooiman who seemingly took the joke too seriously. "Well you know what, then why don't you leave Hollywood, California, and let some American women take on the roles that you're getting," Anna said.

GOP debate aside, in the movie, Emily plays an FBI agent enlisted to aid in the growing war on drugs at the border area between the U.S. and Mexico. "I was so thrilled because there are so many women in law enforcement, we just don't make movies about them," she said. Besides Emily, the cast members include Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin. The movie previously premiered at Cannes Film Festival and will get a limited release in the U.S. on September 18 before a wide release on September 25.
