George Clooney slammed Donald Trump for his disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants. During a press conference for his film "Our Brand Is Crisis" at Toronto Film Festival on Saturday, September 12, the 54-year-old actor candidly said that Trumps' comment was "idiotic."

"Clearly, what he said is idiotic, of course it's idiotic," Clooney said of Trump's comment. "Anybody who says as intolerant words as those should be laughed at, and that's pretty much [what] I think eventually history will do."

Despite his controversial statements, Trump, according to a CNN/ORC poll released on Thursday, received a support rating of 32 percent, leading the GOP race. Regarding the poll, Clooney said, "Who'd have thought Donald Trump would be at 30 percent? You know, it ends up working out very well for the film, but that wasn't, you know, we weren't that good."

Back in June, when announcing that he's running for president, Trump addressed the illegal immigrant issues in the U.S. and used Mexican immigrants as example. "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best ... They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us," the business magnate said. "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists... And some, I assume, are good people."

In addition to Clooney, a number of celebrities previously voiced out their disapproval of Trump. They included Matt Damon whose wife was born in Argentina, Shakira, Ricky Martin and Eva Longoria.
