Bindi Irwin Pays Tribute to Dad Steve on Australia's Father's Day

The 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant posts a heartwarming tribute to her late 'crocodile hunter' father following the ninth anniversary of his death.

AceShowbiz - Bindi Irwin took to Instagram on Sunday, September 6 to pay tribute to her late father Steve Irwin on Australia's Father's Day. Bindi posted a throwback picture of his "crocodile hunter" father hanging out with a crocodile.

The "Dancing with the Stars" contestant captioned it, "Thinking about home today. Father's Day is today in Australia and everyone is celebrating at Australia Zoo. It's such a special time of year, I hope everyone who comes to the zoo today is able to enjoy it with our gorgeous animals. No matter where I am in the world, this day means such a lot to me. My heart forever lives @AustraliaZoo - just like Dad's always did."

Bindi was only 8 years old when Steve passed away on September 4, 2006 at the age of 44 after he was stabbed by a stingray while filming a wildlife documentary.

Bindi was the first cast member announced to be joining "Dancing with the Stars" season 21, pairing up with Derek Hough. "This is completely different to anything I have ever done in my life," the 17-year-old star saidduring "Good Morning America" on late August, "I am used to wrangling crocodiles. I'm quite nervous about this. I have to tell you though, the judges scare me more than crocodiles."
