She had anti-anxiety medication, anti-psychotic medication, opiates and marijuana in her blood system when she passed away earlier this year.

AceShowbiz - Amanda Peterson, the "Can't Buy Me Love" actress who was found dead in July this year, died of accidental drug overdose. It has been revealed that the Weld County Coroner in Colorado determined the cause of death as respiratory failure brought on by a "morphine effect".

Peterson died at the age of 43 at her home in Greeley, Colorado. Her family hadn't heard of her for two days before she was found dead on July 5. Her father noted at that time that she "had some illness and a sleep apnea problem that may have contributed."

According to TMZ, Peterson had several different prescription drugs in her system when she passed away. Among them are benzodizepines, opiates, phenothiazines, and marijuana. One particular killer pain drug Gabapentin was found "six times the normal level in her system."

Peterson had a history of drug abuse with at least one narcotics-related arrest in 2012. Following her fame in "Can't Buy Me Love", she moved to Colorado and back to school. She was said trying to make it as a writer before her death.

Peterson's mom revealed her daughter's struggle with drugs and depression but cited that the actress was in good place when she died. "This was not, in any way, a drug thing," she told ET. "Amanda was in very good spirits."
