Toby Kebbell is in negotiations to star in "Kong: Skull Island", according to The Hollywood Reporter. He will join the already-attached actor Tom Hiddleston in the film which is being developed by Universal and Legendary Pictures.

Corey Hawkins, Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly also star in the movie with Jordan Vogt-Roberts serving behind the lens. The film centers on a team of explorers who venture into "the mysterious, creature-laden isle that is also the home of the king of the apes."

Derek Connolly is brought on for a new draft of the screenplay which was previously written by Max Borenstein ("Godzilla"), John Gatins ("Flight") and Dan Gilroy ("Nightcrawler"). Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Mary Parent produce the movie with Alex Garcia and Eric McLeod tapped as executive producers. Set to feature the origin story of Kong, "Skull Island" is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on March 10, 2017.

Kebbell has had experience in apes movie as he played Koba in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes". He just appeared as villainous Doctor Doom in "The Fantastic Four" and will next be seen in 2016's "Warcraft" and "Ben-Hur". His other notable credits include "Wrath of the Titans", "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" and "RocknRolla".
