The co-host of 'The Talk' joins the long-running police procedural series as a forensic psychologist.

AceShowbiz - "Criminal Minds" will introduce a new face when it returns with its new season this fall. Joining the show as the new member of the BAU team is Aisha Tyler, who is currently also co-hosting CBS' daytime talk show "The Talk".

First look at the actress on the long-running police procedural series has now made its way out via EW. She's featured greeting Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) in one picture, and looking intense while holding a phone in another image.

Tyler joins the cast in a recurring role of Dr. Tara Lewis, a forensic psychologist who introduces an entirely new element to the long-running show. She fills the void left by Jennifer Love Hewitt's Kate Callahan following the actress departure at the end of season 10.

Tyler says of her character's role in the team, "The people in the BAU are analyzing these unknown subjects trying to catch them, but my character analyzes them after they've been caught to make sure they're competent to stand trial."

Executive producer Erica Messer explains the significance of bringing in this new character, "She brings a different skill set than anyone else we've had. Once we've done our job and the bad guy is put away, she's seeing what makes them tick once they aren't hiding and running anymore. It's really a cool sandwich to what our team does. It's been a fun skill set to bring to the team, and one that we never thought we needed, but now that we have it, we love it."

"Criminal Minds" season 11 kicks off Wednesday, September 30 at 9 P.M. ET on CBS.
