'Straight Outta Compton' Cast and N.W.A Members Gather at World Premiere
Movie

The event was attended by O'Shea Jackson Jr., Jason Mitchell and Corey Hawkins as well as the living characters they play in the biopic which is based on rap group N.W.A.

AceShowbiz - O'Shea Jackson Jr., Jason Mitchell and Corey Hawkins attended the Los Angeles Premiere of F. Gary Gray's N.W.A biopic "Straight Outta Compton" on Monday, August 10. The event reunited music legends from the past and present as Ice Cube and other surviving core members of the group like Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella also came to the screening.

It's very reasonable for Cube to dub the premiere day as "a good day" as there were some amusing and shocking moments at the premiere. Dre launched his first studio album since 2001, "Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre".

However, the album was not a new thing for director Gray as he already knew it before. "I knew about it a couple years ago, but I wasn't supposed to say anything," Gray admitted at the after-party. "It was tough though, and I think I accidentally leaked it at Comic-Con. Fortunately, they covered it up."

What made the guests more excited was the participation of Quincy Jones, Berry Gordy, Zayn Malik, Martin Lawrence, Wesley Snipes, Kendrick Lamar, Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade, Common and many other musicians at the event. They celebrated the Universal Pictures film and saluted the rap group N.W.A.

Before the screening started, Cube shared his long journey as a member of the legendary band who wanted to make a film based on the group. He's grateful to have his own movie finally happened. "Donna Langley from Universal is the sixth member of N.W.A no doubt," Cube casually praised Langley.

The biopic tells the story of the iconic rap group whose music broke barriers while carrying a social message during the L.A. race riots and will hit U.S. theaters on August 14.
