Gish will reprise her role as FBI Agent Monica Reyes on the FOX six-episode event series set to air in early 2016.

AceShowbiz - Another familiar face from "The X-Files" is returning for the FOX revival. Annabeth Gish, who recently played Sheriff Althea Jarry in the final season of "Sons of Anarchy", is set to reprise her role as FBI Agent Monica Reyes on the event series.

The actress confirmed her return as she tweeted, "Back to #xfiles we go! #monicareyes." One of the lead actors, Gillian Anderson, was also excited to learn of the news. She posted on her own Twitter page, "Can you say Woo Hoo Annabeth! @XFilesNews @thexfiles."

Gish and Robert Patrick, who played Reyes' partner Agent John Doggett, were brought in in season 8 of the original series to fill the void left by David Duchovny following a contract dispute. Initially tapped for a recurring arc, she was promoted to series regular in the ninth and final season.

Gish joins returning stars Anderson (Dana Scully), Duchovny (Fox Mulder), Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner) and William B. Davis (The Smoking Man) who were earlier tapped for the revival project. Dean Haglund also revealed that he, Tom Braidwood and Bruce Harwood would reprise their roles as Langly, Frohike and Byers, collectively known as the Lone Gunmen.

Meanwhile, new additions to the cast include Joel McHale, Annet Mahendru, Kumail Nanjiani and Rhys Darby.

"The X-Files" six-episode event series will launch with a two-night premiere on Sunday, January 24 and Monday, January 25 on FOX.
