Though the judge rules against the sale of the convent to local restaurant owner, he hasn't ruled on whether the church officials can sell the property to the pop singer for $14.5 million.

AceShowbiz - Katy Perry will not get the convent which she intends to buy anytime soon. Los Angeles Superior Court judge James Chalfant said on Thursday, July 30 that a group of nuns improperly sold the hilltop convent to restaurateur Dana Hollister but he delayed any efforts by archbishop to finalize a competing sale to the "Firework" singer.

"There's no doubt in my mind that the sale was improper and invalid," Chalfant said in the latest hearing. "It was a bad deal." Though the judge ruled against the sale of the convent to Hollister, he didn't rule on whether the church officials could sell the property to Perry for $14.5 million.

However, Judge Chalfant said that the "Dark Horse" songtress would similarly be blocked from buying the convent and it might take two years to resolve the legal issue. In the meantime, Hollister can remain in possession of the grounds before a September 15 hearing to decide whether she, Perry or someone else can maintain the buildings and provide the best benefits for the nuns. The restaurateur was also ordered to pay $25,000 a month rent in the meantime.

Though Hollister remains in possession before the September hearing, she cannot sell, lease or modify the property. In other words, "nobody gets this property during the pendency of this lawsuit," Judge Chalfant told the lawyers.
