Dan Aykroyd Confirms Cameo in All-Female 'Ghostbusters'

The actor who portrayed Ray Stantz in 1984's 'Ghostbusters' confirmed that he would make a cameo appearance in the upcoming female-centric 'Ghostbusters'.

AceShowbiz - Dan Aykroyd, who was rumored to make a cameo appearance in untitled Ghostbusters reboot, finally confirmed his involvement in the film. He posted a tweet which indicated that he was filming a scene with other stars such as Kristen Wiig.

"On GB set shooting my scene with funny beautiful Kristen Wiig Lady GB'S are adorable, hilarious and badass Exhilarating! #Ghostbusters," Aykroyd wrote. He deleted the tweet almost two hours later, but EW confirmed his involvement with his reps. There is no word yet on whom Aykroyd will play in the film.

Although Aykroyd's role is still undisclosed, IndieRevolver's source, who claimed to see the filming of the scene, said that Aykroyd would appear as a cab driver. The scene reportedly features Wiig attempting to hail Aykroyd's cab. Aykroyd throws out the iconic line, "I ain't afraid of no ghosts." He drives away with Wiig yelling, "That's a double negative! That means you are afraid of ghosts!"

The upcoming reboot centers on Abby Bergmanone (Melissa McCarthy) and Erin Gilber (Wiig), who collaborate on a book to prove that ghosts are real and exist among human. When ghosts invade Manhattan, they reunite with two other wranglers (Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon) to hunt down the ghosts.

Other stars included in the cast are Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh as well as Neil Casey. Directed by Paul Feig, the comedy movie is scheduled for a U.S. release on July 22, 2016.
