TV

The 'Inside Amy Schumer' star was 'honored' to be asked to replace Jon Stewart but she didn't felt right committing five years to the show.

Despite Comedy Central's previous claim that Trevor Noah was "the only person [they] made an offer to" replace Jon Stewart, Amy Schumer confirms that she was indeed approached to become a new host for "The Daily Show". The "Inside Amy Schumer" star turned it down and now she explains why.

"I was so honored to be asked and considered," she told the Daily Beast. "I thought, 'Well, I could give everyone I love a job and we could all be together for five years. But picturing being in a building and knowing what I was going to do for five years - I love not knowing. And I've never done anything safe or to make money for that reason. So, you know, I said, 'I can't start now.' "

"The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" will start September 28, replacing "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" which will air the last episode on August 6. In anticipation of the final Jon Stewart show, Comedy Central is streaming 42-Day "Daily Show" Marathon starting from his first episode in 1999 when he took over the show from Craig Kilborn.
