AceShowbiz - Penelope Cruz is mourning the death of her father, Eduardo Cruz. The father of four passed away on Thursday morning, June 18, at age 62 from a suspected heart attack at his home in La Manga in Southeast Spain.

The 41-year-old actress was filming Ben Stiller's comedy film "Zoolander 2" abroad when she received the sad news. Following the news of her father's sudden death, the "I'm So Excited!" actress left the set to return to Spain to be with her family. Her sister Monica Cruz also canceled a scheduled promotional appearance.

Eduardo had a history of heart problems. In 2012, Penelope's father was hospitalized in Cartagena, near La Manga, because of heart problems.

Penelope, who has not yet made any comment on her father's sudden death, was known for having close relationship with her father. She often brought him to movie premieres, including the special screening for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". Eduardo was also seen visiting Penelope on set of "Ma Ma" last year.

Penelope is Eduardo's eldest daughter from his first marriage to Encarna Sanchez. The couple also has a son, singer Eduardo Cruz, and a younger daughter, actress Monica. In April 2014, he was married to Carmen Moreno and they have a 3-year-old daughter. The pair lived in La Manga and ran a beauty salon together.
