This year's list of Queen's Birthday Honours is revealed. In showbiz, "The Theory of Everything" actor Eddie Redmayne, "Sherlock" thesp Benedict Cumberbatch, "12 Years a Slave" cast Chiwetel Ejiofor, and "House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey are among the honorees.
Redmayne who won an Oscar for his role as Stephen Hawking is named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire or OBE. Both Cumberbatch and Ejiofor are named Commander of the Order of the British Empire or CBE. Spacey is awarded an honorary knighthood for his services to culture and British theater.
"I am honoured and humbled by such recognition from the Queen. I must thank the British public for being so supportive of my efforts on behalf of the Old Vic. I feel like an adopted son," says the Frank Underwood depicter in response to the monarch's recognition.
Also on the list are rugby player Jonny Wilkinson (CBE), Arsenal women football team Casey Stoney (MBE), long-distance runner Jo Pavey (MBE), actress Lesley Manville (OBE), singer Van Morrison (Knighthood), and footballer Frank Lampard (OBE) among others.
