Actress Monica Lewis has passed away, her former manager, Alan Eichler, announces. The voice of Chiquita Banana cartoon character died Friday, June 12 of natural causes at her home in Woodland Hills, California. She was 93.

Lewis is survived by two sons and three grandchildren. She was married to film producer Jennings Lang until his death in 1996. She was previously married to record producer Bob Thiele but they divorced a couple of years later.

She starred in her husband's films like "Charley Varrick" with Walter Matthau and "Earthquake" with Charlton Heston and Ava Gardner. She also appeared on multiple TV shows such as "Remington Steele," ''Ironside", and "Falcon Crest". As a singer, she scored a hit with "Autumn Leaves" released via Capitol Records. She, however, was perhaps best known for singing "You should never put bananas in the refrigerator" as Miss Chiquita Banana.
