The 'Magic Mike XXL' star is cast in a recurring role as a new love interest to Taraji P. Henson's Cookie Lyon.

AceShowbiz - "Empire" adds a dose of "Magic Mike" for the upcoming season. Adam Rodriguez is confirmed to play a recurring guest role in the second season of the hit hip-hop drama series which is set to kick off September 23 on FOX.

The actor will play Laz Delgado, a smooth-talking concert promoter who takes an interest in Taraji P. Henson's Cookie after her rekindled romance with ex-husband Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) fell apart at the end of the first season.

Rodriguez joins other confirmed guest stars like Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys, and Ne-Yo. They followed in the footsteps of Jennifer Hudson, Courtney Love, Patti LaBelle, and Rita Ora who popped up in the first season.

Adam Rodriguez will next be seen in "Magic Mike XXL". On TV, he has a recurring role on NBC's medical drama "The Night Shift".
