Monaco's 5-month-old royal twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabrielle, were baptized at Monaco Cathedral on May 10. The children of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene stayed calm when the pastor poured water on their heads during the ceremony. Prince Albert II held Gabrielle and Princess Charlene held Jacques throughout the ceremony. The twins were dressed in white gowns by Baby Dior.
Charlene's brother was chosen as godfather to Gabrielle while her godmother is Nerine Pienaar, the wife of retired South African rugby player Francois Pienaar. On the other hand, Jacque's godparents were chosen from Albert's relatives. Christopher Le Vine Jr, Albert's cousin, and Diane de Polignac Nigra are Jacque's godparents.
Some famous figures were seen attending this joyful ceremony. Model Victoria Silvstedt, a close friend of Prince Albert II, looked gorgeous in a pale pink dress. Prince Charles of Bourbon-two Sicilies along with her wife, Princess Camilla of Bourbon-two Sicilies, also joined the ceremony held in the morning. Besides these important figures, common people were seen surrounding the church during ceremony, waiting for the royal successor and his sister appearing in public after the ceremony.
After the ceremony was over, Albert and Charlene held their royal babies outside the cathedral, showing them to the crowd. They took their time to watch traditional folk dance outside the church before returning to the palace. As they were walking to the palace and greeting the crowd, Charlene got a gift basket from one of them. Meanwhile, the royal twins were carried in a car for security reason.
Princess Charlene gave birth to the royal twins on December 10, 2014, and they were exactly 5 months old on the day they were baptized.
