Mel Gibson Makes Surprise Appearance at 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Premiere

The actor who played the original Mad Max Rockatansky was all smiles when attending the movie premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 7.

AceShowbiz - Mel Gibson made a surprise visit on the red carpet of "Mad Max: Fury Road" premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday night, May 7. Mel posed for pictures with the new Mad Max, Tom Hardy, and other cast members.

The actor, who played the original Mad Max Rockatansky in the 1979 dystopian action flick and two prequels, was all smiles. Sporting a black zip-up jacket over a black shirt and jeans, he completed his look with black leather shoes. Tom, meanwhile, donned a navy suit with a white shirt and a blue tie paired with black shoes.

Charlize Theron was accompanied by her beau Sean Penn. She looked gorgeous in a black-and-white, knee-length mesh tube dress paired with black strap heels. Her blonde locks were styled in loose curls. She completed her look with a black clutch and sparkling accessories.

Tom and Charlize later posed with other co-stars including Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Megan Gale, Zoe Kravitz, Josh Helman, Courtney Eaton and Abbey Lee.

Other celebrities in attendance included Riley's mother Lisa Marie Presley and grandmother Priscilla Presley as well as Zoe's mother Lisa Bonet and her husband Jason Momoa.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on May 15.
