The former host of 'The Colbert Show' will use the money he raised from the auction of his desk and set to help students and teachers in South Carolina.

AceShowbiz - After "The Colbert Report" ended last December, the desk and fireplace set were auctioned off. Stephen Colbert announced that the money he raised from the auction would be used to "fund every existing grant request South Carolina public school teachers have made on the education crowdfunding website DonorsChoose.org."

The money obtained from the auction, in addition to donations from Share Fair Nation and ScanSource, made a total of $800,000. "I'm so excited to announce we are funding all 1,000 South Carolina projects on DonorsChoose.org today," the comedian said to teachers and students at Alexander Elementary School in Greenville. "Enjoy your learning, South Carolina," Colbert added.

Approximately 1,000 projects posted by more than 800 teachers would be helped by this aid. They covered more than 375 schools in South Carolina.

The former host of "The Colbert Report" is a member of DonorsChoose.org Board of Directors. The website is to bridge classrooms in need with donors who can help them. Public school teachers can post the classroom project requests on this nonprofit website while donors can choose which projects they want to support.
