The 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' helmer reveals that he 'fought' Marvel to revive Matt Murdock for the big screen instead of rebooting the character for television.

Joss Whedon admits he was against Marvel's plan to bring Daredevil to the small screen. Instead of giving Matt Murdock a TV show, the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" director thought it would be better if the Man Without Fear was revived in a new movie.

"I fought for Daredevil to be a film instead of a TV show," Whedon opens up to IGN in a press tour for "The Avengers 2". "Then under the auspices of Drew Goddard and Steve DeKnight ... I'm dying to see the show but they released it just as I started the press tour!"

"If the show's working, the show's working. Comic books are serialized entertainment and a lot of them lend themselves to TV shows as much or more than they do to movies," he adds, before explaining why he's a big fan of Daredevil, "I like him because he's basically Marvel's Batman, thanks to Frank Miller basically. So for me I didn't think they'd be able to sustain that sort of mood on TV but TV has changed so much. It's come up so much that I think it might just be the right place."

Daredevil was played by Ben Affleck in a 2003 movie. The blind superhero is later portrayed by Charlie Cox in the Netflix series which premiered this April.
