The Peter Pan movie moves out of 'the cluttered summer season' which is filled with potential blockbusters like 'Ant-Man' and 'Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation'.

"Lego" movies are not the only ones getting adjustment at Warner Brothers. "Pan", the movie about the boy who never grows up, has been moved back roughly three months to October 9. Directed by Joe Wright, the Peter Pan flick starring Hugh Jackman, Garrett Hedlund, and Rooney Mara avoids crowded summer.
In its initial July 24 release, "Pan" was supposed to come out a week after Marvel's "Ant-Man" and then face off Cara Delevingne starrer "Paper Towns", Jake Gyllenhaal-led boxing drama "Southpaw", and animation "Pixels". Tom Cruise actioner "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation" will invade theaters a week later.
"We wanted to give Pan the space to extend its theatrical run, so taking it out of the cluttered summer season made the most sense. Moving the film to the heart of the fall will allow us more time to screen the picture, enabling us to capitalize on what we anticipate will be strong word of mouth," explained WB domestic distribution head Dan Fellman.
The studio also books a date for animation "Storks" directed by Nicholas Stoller and Doug Sweetland. The story is still scarce, but it's promised to offer "a fresh and funny look at the fable behind storks." Voiced by Andy Samberg and Kelsey Grammer, the family-friendly pic is set for September 23, 2016 which was previously occupied by "Ninjago" which has been shifted to September 22, 2017.
