AceShowbiz - Kendrick Lamar's "King Kunta" video is out. After some behind-the-scenes clips and photos taken on the filming set surfaced late last week, the rapper premiered the visuals in its entirety on Wednesday, April 1 on the Beats by Dre billboard in Times Square in New York City. He made the video available online via his Vevo page later in the day.

Helmed by Director X, the clip was shot in Lamar's hometown of Compton. The TDE spitter is joined by his crew as he performs at several spots in the city, including the Compton Swap Meet and a parking lot.

"King Kunta" appears on Lamar's newest album "To Pimp a Butterfly". The critically-acclaimed set, which has also spawned Grammy-winning single "i", is currently spending its second week at No. 1 on Billboard 200.

Lamar recently revealed that the LP was supposed to be called "Tu Pimp a Catterpilar" as a homage to the late rap legend Tupac Shakur. "That was the original name and they caught it because the abbreviation was Tupac, Tu-P-A-C," he said in an interview with MTV News.

"Me changing it to Butterfly, I just really wanted to show the brightness of life and the word 'pimp' has so much aggression, and that represents several things. For me, it represents using my celebrity for good. Another reason is, not being pimped by the industry through my celebrity," he added.
