Fans blasted Liam on social media after he posted a Twitter photo of him covering his One Direction mate's face on a poster during a promotional photo.

Liam Payne's joke about Zayn Malik's departure from One Direction's ongoing tour appears to have offended fans. The 21-year-old singer received backlash from numerous Directioners after he posted on Twitter on Monday, March 23 a picture of him and the other One Direction members posing together during a promotional photo.

Fans who didn't find it funny quickly took to social media to respond to Liam's joke. "How dare you cover Zayn's face? Don't f**king do it again," one Directioner wrote. "@Real_Liam_Payne what the????? Why you covering zayn;s face? Am sorry but I cant c da humour in making joke of a frnd's absence due 2 stress," another added.
As previously reported, Zayn left the remaining dates on the Asian leg of their tour due to "stress" after rumors surfaced claiming he's cheating on fiancee Perrie Edwards of Little Mix with a mystery blonde in Thailand.
"Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate," his rep said last week. "The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta."
