Spidey is rumored to get involved in the 'Civil War' of Marvel Cinematic Universe after the 'Captain America 3' directors inked a three-year deal with Sony Pictures.

AceShowbiz - The new Spider-Man is expected to appear in Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War", according to TheWrap. The speculation emerges after the "Captain America 3" helmers Anthony and Joe Russo signed a three-year first-look deal for feature films with Sony Pictures Entertainment who owned the movie rights to Spidey.

"Joe and Anthony Russo are terrifically exciting filmmakers with a sensibility that matches the tastes of audiences worldwide," Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad said in a statement. The deal between the Russo brothers and Sony is set to begin April this year.

"We're thrilled to make a home at Sony Pictures, and to be partnering with the entire team," the directors stated. "The studio has created an environment that is not only collaborative, but truly filmmaker-friendly and we're excited to begin developing both new and ambitious material with them."

The deal was made after Marvel and Sony announced a partnership that would bring the webslinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe before he got his own solo film. Drew Goddard ("The Cabin in the Woods") was recently rumored to be considered to write the script and direct the superhero reboot allegedly titled "Spectacular Spider-Man".

The Russos are tapped by Marvel to return for the third "Captain America 3" film after the huge success of the second installment "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". Meanwhile, Goddard was previously hired by Sony to helm "The Sinister Six" before it was benched along with another Spidey spin-off, "Venom", following the lukewarm response of Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".
