Jake Gyllenhaal Turns Down 'Suicide Squad' Role

According to a new report, the 'Nightcrawler' star has turned down an offer to replace Tom Hardy as Rick Flag in the DC supervillain movie.

AceShowbiz - "Suicide Squad" production team apparently has to start the hunt again. Following Tom Hardy's exit from the project, Jake Gyllenhaal reportedly was eyed to replace him to play Rick Flag. However, Variety reported on Wednesday, January 21 that the "Nightcrawler" actor turned down the offer.

"Suicide Squad" centers on a group of DC supervillains who are sent to dangerous missions by the government to redeem their past. Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne are set to play The Joker, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Boomerang and Enchantress respectively.

Earlier this week, a report regarding the movie's plot emerged. Another report which surfaced on Tuesday additionally suggested that Ben Affleck's Batman would appear in "Suicide Squad" and that his appearance would lead to a Batman solo movie.

Directed by David Ayer, "Suicide Squad" reportedly is starting production in April for an August 5, 2016 release.
