Fleetwood Mac was forced to cut short their live concert in Nebraska. The band was performing for a sold-out crowd at Lincoln's Pinnacle Bank Arena on Saturday night, January 17 when drummer Mick Fleetwood fell ill.
Fellow band member Stevie Nicks then revealed to the audience that Fleetwood couldn't continue the show, telling them that the drummer was throwing up backstage. "We feel terrible, but we can't really make him play. Give us a minute, and we'll figure out what to do," he said before 14,000 people packing the venue.
After Nicks made the announcement, a drum tech named Steve appeared on the stage and played "Go Your Own Way" for Fleetwood. Later, Christine McVie came out for the final performance that night. She sat on a grand piano while singing "Songbird" accompanied by guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. The concert ended almost an hour earlier than scheduled.
In an online statement posted on Sunday, the band said Fleetwood caught the stomach flu. They added that their next show in Grand Rapids, Michigan would still go on as planned on Tuesday.
