The TV sequel to Tom Cruise's 2002 movie "Minority Pilot" is on the right track to the development stage. After being preemptively picked up by FOX in September with a put-pilot commitment that had a $1 million penalty attached, the project is now officially given a go.

Max Borenstein ("Godzilla") is enlisted to pen the script and serve as one of the executive produces. Kevin Falls ("The West Wing") boards the project as a showrunner, and Kevin Spielberg who directed the original film will also be involved in the small-screen adaptation.

It picks up 10 years after the events in the film. The Precrime division which was headed by Cruise's Chief John Anderton was shut down. One of the former three Precogs struggles to lead a "normal" human life, but remains haunted by visions of the future. He meets a detective haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose to his gift.
