To tide fans over before "Last Week Tonight" returns in 2015, the host John Oliver shows up in an internet-only clip for a hilarious warm-up where he discusses the holiday he loathes the most. "New Year's Eve is like the death of a pet," he says in a clip on YouTube.
"New Year's Eve is the worst," he says. "It combines three of the least pleasant things known to mankind: Forced interaction with strangers, being drunk, cold and tired, and having to stare at Ryan Seacrest for five solid minutes, waiting for him to tell you what the time is."
The "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" presenter also laments, "You know it's going to happen but somehow you're never really prepared for how truly awful it is." He then gives tips on how to navigate the terrible evening.
