J.K. Rowling Denies Snape Was Vampire
Movie

In a new entry on her Pottermore site, the famed author touches the topic of vampire and explains that she nearly added a vampire character named Trocar.

AceShowbiz - J.K. Rowling has added a new entry on her "12 Days of Pottermore Christmas". On the Wednesday, December 17 installment, the "Harry Potter" author talked about vampire in the book, explaining that there was a vampire character named Trocar who teaches at Hogwarts but he did not make it into the final books.

Although she mentioned vampire in the book, Rowling decided not to focus on the blood-sucking character because "the vampire myth is so rich, and has been exploited so many times in literature and on film, that I felt there was little I could add to the tradition." In the entry, Rowling also denied speculations that Snape was a vampire.

"While it is true that he has an unhealthy pallor, and is sometimes described as looking like a large bat in his long black cloak, he never actually turns into a bat, we meet him outside the castle by daylight, and no corpses with puncture marks in their necks ever turn up at Hogwarts. In short, Snape is not a re-vamped Trocar," she wrote.

Prior to the vampire discussion, Rowling revealed to fans there was at least one Jewish wizard in the "Harry Potter" story. Replying a fan's question, she tweeted the character was Anthony Goldstein from Ravenclaw. In the movie, he appeared in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".
