5 Seconds of Summer played as a three-piece at Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball concert on Sunday, December 7. Only Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin and Luke Hemmings made it to the show held in London while their mate Michael Clifford couldn't leave the U.S. after losing his passport.

Before the show began, other 5SOS members already told their Twitter followers about the incident. "So Mikey lost his passport :( That means he cant fly to the UK & has to stay in the US, so were playing #CapitalJBB as a three piece today," they wrote before apologizing to "everyone expecting to see the four of us on stage" and making sure Clifford's absence wouldn't ruin the party.

Clifford has also personally apologized to fans. In a video shared by Capital FM, the guitarist is seen carrying his suitcase while calling himself "stupid" for losing "one thing that I needed to get to other countries." He also said on Twitter, "Really really sorry to anyone I've let down by not being able to come you get a free pass to call me stupid."

The Sunday Jingle Bell Ball took place at London's O2 Arena and featured performances from headliner Taylor Swift as well as Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Sam Smith and Rixton. 5SOS closed out the event with their hits including "Don't Stop", "Good Girls", "Amnesia" and "She Looks So Perfect". "Wasn't the same without Michael but we did our best, thanks jingle bell ball," the dudes tweeted after the show.
