Carrie Underwood has stormed the charts with her newest single "Something in the Water". The powerful ballad peaked on Billboard Hot 100 at No. 24 and has spent multiple weeks at No. 1 on other Billboard charts including Country Songs, Country Digital Songs and Hot Christian Songs.

The track is the first single off Underwood's upcoming album "Greatest Hits: Decade #1". As the title suggests, the set features a number of hits the singer has released since winning the fourth season of "American Idol" back in 2005, including "Jesus, Take the Wheel", "Before He Cheats" and "Good Girl".

"Something in the Water" and "Little Toy Guns" are the only new songs from the project which is due out on December 9. Fans haven't got to listen to the latter record, but Underwood has revealed in a recent interview with Country Vibe how the song will sound like and what positive message it has.

"There's a little girl and she hears her parents fighting, as unfortunately a lot of kids do," explained the singer. "So it's basically her saying, 'I wish their words weren't real. I wish they were like little toy guns and they didn't hurt you.' "

She went on saying that she created the song because she's concerned about children getting affected by their parents fighting. "I've seen it first hand from different people in my life and seen how the tumultuous parental relationship between each other can affect a child. So that's kind of what it's about, but it's a really tempo driven song as well, so it's kind of a bit of a juxtaposition as far as the story content and the music," she continued. "It sounds rockin', but it has a positive message."
