First photos of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in "San Andreas" have been released. The actor, who plays a rescue-helicopter pilot as a massive earthquake hits California, can be seen holding his ex-wife's hands as they get into action to find his daughter in one photo released on Sunday, December 7 via USA Today. Another photo shows the actor looking cool while walking away from a helicopter.

The action flick, hitting U.S. theaters on May 29, is directed by Brad Peyton. In addition to Johnson, it stars Carla Gugino as Johnson's ex-wife, Alexandra Daddario as their daughter, Ioan Gruffudd and Colton Haynes among others.

In an interview with the news outlet, Peyton and Johnson shared what moviegoers would see in the movie. "It all goes down. The damage, destruction, the loss of lives," said Johnson of the disaster. "Everything that you know on the West Coast doesn't see tomorrow."

"We're going to show what the largest earthquake ever recorded would look like, all in a highly populated area. And this earthquake would have the potential for global impact because the Earth is having an event," said the director who worked with Tom Jordan, director of the Southern California Earthquake Center, to consult on the science aspects of the movie.

Trailer for the disaster-themed movie is set to be released on Tuesday, December 9.
