The One Direction member reacts to a viral Vine video showing him unenthusiastically taking selfies with some girls as he walks on the red carpet at the ARIA Awards

AceShowbiz - Liam Payne has responded to numerous comments made by people after a Vine video of him "faking his smile" went viral. In the video taken during the ARIA Awards in Australia earlier this week, the One Direction member unenthusiastically took selfies with some girls as he walked on the red carpet.

Liam was seen smiling widely when he posed with one girl. However, his expression quickly changed after the snap was taken. He later flashed his big smile again as he posed for another selfie with another girl.

The boybander reacted to fans' criticism and defended himself in some tweets he sent out on Thursday, November 27. "Lots of people saying I was 'faking' smiles with fans yesterday," he wrote. "I usually find when ur taking a photo u don't smile until somebody's about to take the photo."

"Sorry to disappoint but I don't walk around like this all day," he continued and added a grimace smiley emoji. "That would hurt!"

He then made fun of the entire situation by posting a picture of a grinning chimpanzee. "Me," he captioned it.

During the ARIAs, Liam and his One Direction bandmates came out as the winner in the Best International Act category. They also performed "Steal My Girl" from their latest chart-topping album "FOUR".
