Macklemore marched alongside other protesters after the grand jury's decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson who fatally shot unarmed African American teenager Mike Brown was announced on Monday, November 24. Wearing simple hoodie, the Grammy-winning musician blended with others in Seattle.
He was eventually spotted by a news reporter. When asked why he took part in the protest, Macklemore told Seattle's King5 News, "Solidarity - it's about Mike Brown, it's not about me."

But they extrapolate our magic, sweat, our voice our fire - And leave us stripped of our right to exist," Q-Tip wrote on Twitter. He was also seen joining demonstrators on the streets of New York City, chanting, "Whose streets? Our streets."
August Alsina, who was having a show in San Jose on Monday, took a moment of silence after the verdict was announced and shed tears in front of the audience. "I'm emotional 'cause I could've been that ni**a that they killed," he told the crowd.
