Martha Stewart Mocks Gwyneth Paltrow's 'Conscious Uncoupling' Term

The 73-year-old businesswoman and author disses the 'Iron Man' actress in her magazine, using 'conscious coupling' as a title of a sweet spread article.

AceShowbiz - Martha Stewart's feud with Gwyneth Paltrow continues. In the November issue of Martha Stewart Living, she pokes fun at Gwyneth's "conscious uncoupling" term, which the star of "The Avengers" used to describe her separation from her husband Chris Martin.

In an article headlined "Conscious Coupling", Martha writes about suggestions for combining flavors of pie-fillings for Thanksgiving. The introduction of the article also shades Gwyneth as it contains references to marriage in general.

The introduction reads, "Every Thanksgiving table should be blessed with the presence of a long-married pair who bring out the best in each other, are completely enamored despite their differences, and leave every other guest thinking, I'll have what they're having."

"Our holiday pies honor such so there's a pleasant mix of textures and flavors in every bite," the introduction continues, "No matter how you slice partnerships, each spotlighting the perfect marriage of crust and filling these six irresistible desserts, there is a whole lot to love."

The feud between Martha and Gwyneth began back in Fall 2013. At that time, Martha was asked by Bloomberg TV about her opinion on Gwyneth's entry to the lifestyle world with her Goop brand. "I haven't eaten at Gwyneth's house, and I've never seen how she lives," Martha said, "But if she is authentic, all the better. I mean, I certainly hope she is. She really wants to be part of the lifestyle business... She's a charming, pretty person who has a feeling for lifestyle. She wants to be a lifestyle arbiter. Fine. Good. I think I started this whole category of lifestyle."

Martha then turned up the heat when she made a more aggressive statement about Gwyneth last month. "[Gwyneth] just needs to be quiet. She's a movie star," she said in an interview with Porter magazine, "If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart."

Gwyneth's lifestyle company recently hired a new CEO named Lisa Gersh, who previously worked at Martha's company. The "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" actress finally responded to Martha's criticism last week, saying, "No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I'm shocked and devastated. I'll try to recover."

Gwyneth added, "If I'm really honest, I'm so psyched that she sees us as competition. I'm so psyched. I really am. At this point in my life I don't take it personally."
