Hozier made his debut appearance on "Saturday Night Live" in its Saturday, October 11 episode. Serving as a musical guest, the Irish newcomer performed a couple tracks from his eponymous debut studio album.
Wearing a black leather jacket over a gray T-shirt and bringing along his guitar, he kicked off his two-song set with the live performance of his hit single "Take Me to the Church". For his second song, he played "Angel of Small Death & the Codeine Scene" after being introduced by surprise guest Kristen Wiig. He was joined by some backing vocalists and a band during both performances.
Hozier's self-titled set has been projected to land somewhere inside Billboard 200's top 10 next week. It's supported by "Take Me to the Church" which has topped the Adult Alternative Songs chart and reached the top 10 on both Hot Rock Songs and Alternative Songs.
"Saturday Night Live" returns on October 25 with host Jim Carrey and musical guest Iggy Azalea.
