"Jeopardy!" has been criticized for its controversial "What Women Want" category. After the episode featuring the topic in question aired on Monday, September 29, some people including celebrities like Sophia Bush, Rosie O'Donnell and Natalie Morales took issue with it.
"Some help around the house; would it kill you to get out the Bissell bagless canister one of these every once in a while?" host Alex Trebek read a clue, which led to the answer, "What is a vacuum cleaner?" The category also mentioned a pair of good-fitting Levi's, Pilates, crossword puzzles and Sleepytime tea as some other things that women consider priorities.
Reacted to the category, Bush who currently stars on "Chicago P.D." tweeted, "@Jeopardy? For a 'smart' show, you just got srsly stupid RT @DJRumspringa: ARE YOU SERIOUS @Jeopardy?? pic.twitter.com/LEZcSw8K5A #SexismIsUgly." "The View" co-host O'Donnell weighed in on the issue, " 'I'll take equal pay for $500.' - @Rosie on the @Jeopardy 'What Women Want' category. #Jeopardy #TheView."
"Today" anchor Morales said on the show on Wednesday morning, "I can't believe that. How did that get past everybody in the room who thought that was a good idea?" Matt Lauer agreed, adding, "Yeah, you'd have thought somebody would've caught that."
