Carrie Underwood's new single "Something in the Water" has surfaced online in full. The powerful country ballad, which was scheduled to premiere on radio and hit iTunes on Monday, September 29, unexpectedly leaked on Sunday.
The track was co-written by Underwood along with Chris DeStefano and Brett James. On it, the "American Idol" winner talks about a religious experience that makes her a stronger person.
"He said: just a little faith and it'll all get better/ So I followed that preacher man down to the river and now I'm changed/ And now I'm stronger," she sings before belting out the chorus, "There must've been something in the water."
" 'Something in the Water' is so inspirational," Underwood has said of the song in a statement. "It's joyous! I can't help but smile when I hear it. I hope it has the same effect on everyone who listens to it."
The ballad will appear on her upcoming album, "Greatest Hits: Decade #1". The set which will also feature 18 No. 1 hits by the songstress is coming out on December 9 via Arista Nashville.
