'Guardians of the Galaxy' Debuts Character Featurettes and Official Poster
Movie

One of the featurettes shows hot-tempered Rocket Raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper spitting his words in anger.

AceShowbiz - After releasing the first trailer, "Guardians of the Galaxy" debuts featurettes and official poster. The lead characters, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot, are explained in the clips, and they are assembled in the poster with their weapons ready.

Chris Pratt who plays Peter Quill or Star-Lord says his character is not superhero. He is "just a guy who uses his cunning and his charm to get himself out of situations." Zoe Saldana describes her character, Gamora, as lethal and rough but has a heart of gold.

Dave Bautista who plays Drax explains that his is a very emotional character who lives solely for revenge. Vin Diesel who voices Rocket Raccoon's houseplant/muscle, Groot, says the tree-like creature "is one of the strangest characters Marvel has ever attempted to put on film."

The pint-sized Raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper, meanwhile, has "some real anger issues." While the first trailer didn't see the gunslinger saying any words except for his rudely spitting on the floor, this character featurette shows him in a brief dialogue scene that shows his hot temper.

In an interview with Pointless Pod, director James Gunn explains that "Marvel only partially owns the Skrulls." He adds, "And also, for the record, we don't own the Badoon either. So people are asking why we have a Sakaaran in the film and we don't own the Badoon."

James also teases what to expect from the second trailer, "Glenn Close is in the movie. I'm saving some people for the second trailer, which I like better than the first trailer, frankly. The main people, I think, we're saving are Ronan, played by Lee Pace; Yondu..."

In a separate chat with Total Film to break down the trailer, the helmer reveals "Indiana Jones" influence, "There is probably no film that influenced me more as a child - no film that excited me more or that I loved more - than 'Raiders of The Lost Ark.' It not only influences how I see Guardians, it influences how I live my life."

Of the vintage yet addictive song featured in the trailer, James explains, " 'Hooked on a Feeling' is used in the movie. That and a lot of other old songs are on Quill's mixed tape in his Sony Walkman. It's one of the few things he has from Earth. I don't think of it as a joke, because it's very dear to him. It's the umbilical cord that connects him to earth and the home and family he lost."

Quill was kidnapped as a kid. The self-proclaimed Star-Lord met Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot while in prison. The unlikely group forms allies and travels together, dodging enemies who are hot in pursuit of a mysterious orb artifact possessed by Quill.

The film will be released in the United States on August 1 in 3D. Yondu is played by Michael Rooker, while James' brother Sean Gunn acted out as Raccoon on the set. Djimon Hounsou, Karen Gillan, and Benicio Del Toro are in the movie as well.
