Many Hollywood celebrities paid tribute to the late Philip Seymour Hoffman on Twitter but not all of them shared kind words for the Oscar winner. "Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki is among celebs who went under fire for posting insensitive comments about the actor's February 2 sudden death.

" 'Sad' isn't the word I'd use to describe a 46-year-old man throwing his life away to drugs," Padalecki began in a tweet which was later deleted. " 'Senseless' is more like it. 'Stupid'." After some pushbacks and lashes from his followers, Padalecki was forced to clarify his statement.

"I didnt mean PSH is stupid or that addiction isn't a reality," he wrote. "I simply meant I have a different definition of 'tragedy'." He added, "When I think 'tragedy,' I think of St. Judes, of genocide, of articles I read in the paper. But, yes, either way, a death, is sad."

Padalecki was not the only one. "Star Trek: The Next Generation" star LeVar Burton was also in hot water for writing, "Damn, #PSH was SO talented! However, if Y'all should find me dead with a needle in my arm, in my underwear ...please put my pants on!"

A follower said his comment was not cool, and Burton replied, "Not cool is shooting up when you got kids... #areyoukiddingme." Claiming he knew about addiction before passing judgment, the actor added later, "No matter how you slice it, PSH wasted a great gift! Lash out at me if you want to ...I ain't goin' out like that!"

Some other celebrities chose to highlight drug's role in Hoffman's death. Singer Sara Bareilles said, "Drugs are f**king lame and false and take beauty away from the world. And anyone who tells you different is just plain wrong." Demi Lovato, who had been an addict in the past too, said, "I wish more people would lose the stigma and treat addiction as the deadly and serious DISEASE that it is."
