"Bunheads" has joined the list of short-lived shows. The one-hour ballet drama from Amy Sherman-Palladino has been officially canceled after being on the bubble since wrapping up its first and now only season in February.

" 'Bunheads' is a wonderful series that we are very proud to have aired. The series had amazing storytelling, the most talented cast and a passionate and loyal fan base," ABC Family announces in a statement. "Recognizing all of this, we took extra time to try and find ways to bring the series back for another season, but in the end it simply wasn't possible. We wish the cast and crew the best in their future endeavors."

Some cast members have taken to Twitter to react to the sad news. Sutton Foster wrote, "Thank you all for the love!!! Onwards and upwards!," Bailey Buntain tweeted, "Thankful is the biggest understatement 2 express my experience on Bunheads. I will miss the cast & creative team the most.. & also craft too," and Emma Dummont suggested "Bunheads" fans "to support local dance.Go see a show, take a dance class."

The cancellation doesn't come as a huge shocker. There had been speculations that the series would be canceled when it was reported that the show was not submitted for Emmy consideration along with six other ABC Family series and its set was torn down.

Just last week, another ABC Family series, "The Lying Game", received the same verdict after airing two seasons. Lead actress Alexandra Chando broke the news on July 15 via Twitter, writing, "To our awesome #lyinggame fans, thank you for these two amazing seasons. Unfortunately, Abc Family has decided not to bring us back for a third season. We so wanted to do 10 more for you guys! Thanks for your support and keep up with the cast to see what's next for us! Xx."
