Recreating the French silent drama's black-and-white scenes and classic background music, the fresh trailer for 'Ice Age: Continental Drift' sees prehistoric squirrel Scrat encountering a female rival

AceShowbiz - Ancient squirrel Scrat parodies acclaimed silent drama "The Artist" in a new trailer for "Ice Age: Continental Drift". In the fresh sneak-peek, which recreates the awards-magnet film's black-and-white scenes and classic background music, Scrat is seen meeting a female squirrel who then becomes his rival in chasing his beloved acorn.

In "Ice Age 4", Scrat's reunion with his cursed nut catapults him to places no prehistoric squirrel has gone before. Also in the upcoming film, the famous trio Manny, Diego and Sid will embark on their greatest adventure after cataclysm sets an entire continent adrift.

Separated from the rest of the herd, the three use an iceberg as a makeshift ship, which launches them on an epic seafaring quest. Manny and the gang are challenged like never before to become heroes and do the impossible, as they encounter exotic sea creatures, explore a brave new world, and battle ruthless pirates.

The kid-friendly movie is helmed by Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier. Joining the voice cast for the animated pic are such stars as Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, Drake, Seann William Scott, Nicki Minaj, Nick Frost and Heather Morris.

"Ice Age 4" is slated for a July 13 release in theaters across the U.S.
