While producer Kevin Feige has always insisted that "The Avengers" will not feature Skrulls as the secret villains, newly released toys for the movie have allegedly given a clue that the aliens might indeed appear in the film. MTV Geek has shared photos featuring a set of Earth Mightiest Heroes' board games with little pink figurines that look like none other than the shape-shifting Skrulls.

The images were taken at Jakks Pacific's Toy Fair 2012 showroom. However, it is not clear if the strategy game, which also features Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Iron Man figures, is really based on the movie's plot since Hawkeye, Black Widow and Nick Fury are all absent from the set.

Last January, Feige has claimed that none of Skrulls or Red Skull will appear as the secret villains in "Avengers" despite the swirling rumors that the alien creatures are set to take a small role in the film. "Who said they were aliens? It's not Skrulls, I've been clear about that," he told Empire.

"Beyond that, we want to hide it," the producer continued on. "The identity of the alien race is not impactful. It exsists in the comic books, but we're not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that."

To arrive in the U.S. theaters on May 4, "The Avengers" brings together the Earth's Mightiest Heroes to fight the biggest foes no single hero could withstand. Directed by Joss Whedon, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson.
