Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes Have an Amicable Split

After almost seven years of marriage, the British actress and her director husband have announced their separation by mutual agreement.

AceShowbiz - Never reported to have a rift on their marriage, Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes have decided to take their separate ways. The couple announced the bad news on Monday, March 15 through London-based Schillings law firm.

"Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement," so read the statement. "Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family."

Kate and Sam tied the knot on May 24, 2003 on the island of Anguilla in the Carribean. The two have a son, 6-year-old Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes. The 34-year-old beauty also has a 9-year-old daughter, Mia Honey Threapleton, from her previous marriage with Jim Threapleton.

Aside from their personal life, Kate and Sam have teamed up for "Revolutionary Road". In the 2008 film, the British actress stars opposite Leonardo DiCaprio while Sam directs them.
