Multiple unnamed sources tell People that Alexa Ray Joel's possible suicide attempt over the weekend was provoked by an argument with her boyfriend. The 23-year-old singer/songwriter "was apparently distraught over an argument with her boyfriend," claims a source. Another source chimes in that Alexa took Traumeel, a homeopathic medication and then "she became worried about breathing, which is why 911 was called."

Alexa was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital on Saturday afternoon, December 5. After receiving treatment, "she is stable and her doctors are assessing her needs," a representative for Alexa and her musician father, Billy Joel, has confirmed to the weekly publication.

Billy himself was quoted as telling Newsday on late Saturday night that his daughter was okay. "She is going to be fine," the 60-year-old music star affirmed. At the time of writing, it is reported that Alexa has been released from the hospital and is already home. No further comment has been made by the family though.

Alexa Ray Joel is the daughter of Billy Joel and his former wife, supermodel Christie Brinkley, who were married from 1985 to 1994. Alexa, who will turn 24 years old on date 29 later this month, is one of the celebrities scheduled to perform in a tree-lighting ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange this Thursday, December 10.
