2009 mtvU Woodie Awards Noms Announced, Drake Up for Woodie of the Year

The likes of Drake, Asher Roth, Kid Cudi and Wale appear in the nominations list of the sixth annual mtvU Woodie Awards.

AceShowbiz - Chosen by college students and music fans across U.S., nominations for the sixth annual mtvU Woodie Awards have been announced. New rappers Drake, Asher Roth and Kid Cudi are listed in one category each.

Drake goes head-to-head against Roth, Kings of Leon, MGMT and Silversun Pickups, vying for Woodie of the Year. As for Cudi, he is among the contenders for Best Video Woodie along with Death Cab for Cutie, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Anjulie, The Dead Weather and Matt and Kim.

Another new MC who manages to be nominated in this year's Woodie Awards is Wale. The rapper faces off Grizzly Bear, Never Shout Never, La Roux, Friendly Fires and Passion Pit for The Breaking Woodie title.

The 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards will be conducted on November 18 at New York's Roseland Ballroom. The show will then be aired Friday, December 4 on mtvU, MTV, MTV2 and Palladia. Its musical guests and presenters are promised to be announced soon. Voting in all categories begins Monday, October 5 at Woodies.MTV.com and runs through November 16.
